How Aquaforce Pumps Work
Aquaforce pumps efficiently draw pond water through a large cage grill designed to filter out coarse solids up to 6mm or 10mm, depending on the model. For enhanced protection, a clip-in fine mesh filter tray is included to capture smaller particles down to 2mm, keeping your pond fish safe by preventing their access to the pump.
The pump’s significantly increased cage surface area allows it to collect and handle the maximum amount of debris, ensuring efficient waste removal. This larger cage design also reduces clogging, minimising maintenance and saving you time on cleaning, while delivering a steady flow of cleaner water to your filtration system.
Typical Aquaforce Pump Setup
Aquaforce Pumps are ideal for moving water to external filters and powering high-flow waterfalls or watercourses where low maintenance is essential. For optimal performance, position the pump in the pond’s deepest area, at least 200mm below the surface. This placement promotes excellent water circulation throughout the pond and maximises the pump’s solids handling capability when used for filtration.
Larger models (6000, 8000, 12000 & 15000) come equipped with a second inlet and flow control. The additional inlet allows connection to a skimmer or satellite filter, while the flow control lets you adjust the water flow to your waterfall or filter. It also enables precise management of water drawn from the second inlet, ensuring balanced and efficient pond filtration and circulation.

When using a skimmer to remove surface debris, the Aquaforce pump’s flow control allows you to balance the water intake between the main pump cage and the skimmer, ensuring efficient filtration of both surface and submerged debris.

The larger Aquaforce models also offer amphibious operation, meaning the pump can run on dry land while the protective cage stays submerged in the water. This feature provides flexible installation options to suit your pond setup.

Additionally, you can connect a second filter to the pump, which can be placed in a ‘dead’ zone of the pond or even in a nearby smaller pond. This helps improve water quality in hard-to-reach or less circulated areas, promoting a healthier overall pond environment.
