The Ecopower+ is an advanced, external above-ground pond filter designed to provide crystal-clear water through a multi-stage filtration process that includes UV clarification, biological filtration, and mechanical filtration. With flexible installation options and a high-performance design, it’s ideal for a wide variety of garden ponds.
Step-by-Step Filtration Process:
- Water Entry via Stepped Hosetail:
Pond water is pumped into the filter through a versatile stepped hosetail inlet (compatible with 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, and 40mm hose sizes), making it easy to integrate into your existing system. - UV Chamber with Integrated Turbulator:
Once inside, the water flows into the UV chamber, which houses a powerful 8-watt ultraviolet lamp. A built-in turbulator ensures even water movement around the lamp, maximising UV exposure. This process causes microscopic green water algae to clump together, so they can be removed more easily later in the filtration process. - Venturi Aeration:
Before entering the filter chambers, the water passes through a venturi system that introduces oxygen into the water. This helps maintain a healthy, aerated environment for beneficial bacteria and pond life. - Biological Filtration Chamber:
The water moves into the biological filtration zone, where it passes through Kaldnes K3 biological media. This media provides an ideal surface area for beneficial bacteria to grow, which helps break down harmful ammonia and nitrites produced by fish waste and organic matter. - Mechanical Foam Filtration:
Next, the water rises through high-density foam filters, which trap solid waste particles and debris, helping to polish the water and remove any remaining contaminants. - Desludging and Water Exit:
Any waste that settles in the bottom chamber can be easily desludged, making maintenance simple and effective. Clean water then exits the unit via a 32mm outlet, returning to the pond clear and healthy.

Installation Guidance – Important Notice
