Job Description

Job Purpose:

To Co-ordinate and oversee the Hozelock quality management system as detailed in ISO9001 and to provide support to the quality assurance team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of quality engineers, technicians and auditors.
  • Oversee the management of the customer services team who are headed up by a manager and supported by a team of advisors whose primary role is to support consumers with regards to product technical assistance, customer enquiries, customer complaints and warranty and spares replacements.
  • Manage departments goals, objectives and KPI’s.
  • Manage all aspect of customer quality concerns and warranty.
  • Conduct random audits of product and assembly lines, including disassembly of products, to ensure Goods Inwards, assembly and packaging methods meet specifications and the ‘Gold Standard’ approved status.
  • Develop FMEAs, Control Plans, Work Instructions and process audit documentation with supplier and UK teams and ensure that the controls are consistently followed.
  • Issue Corrective Action Requests and verify that improvement actions are effectively implemented and maintained.  Where possible facilitate resolution using problem solving skills and support supplier.
  • Actively take part in the development of supplier’s processes and the undertaking of capability studies to ensure a consistent high-quality product is manufactured.
  • Conduct and review ISIRs and support Purchasing Director to ensure all suppliers have been audited and approved.
  • Understand the requirements of electrical approvals for all electrical products houses and ensuring that the requirements of the standards are maintained.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure that they meet all checklist items and submit their milestone information within the required timescales.
  • Progress test equipment specification, procurement, manufacture and commissioning at supplier where appropriate.
  • Progress display and transport packaging from local supplier through to sign off.
  • Conduct production trials with supplier’s staff and design staff, through to sign off for mass production.  Document results and make improvement recommendations.
  • Investigate and implement product and process improvements.
  • Liaise with suppliers, UK and FE  team for any design, or assembly processing improvements.
  • Travel to other factored product suppliers as required to ensure their products are on time, cost and quality.
  • Ensure that the calibration of equipment is conducted by the supplier and the records are maintained.

Education and/or Experience

  • Fully conversant with ISO 9001
  • Lead auditor trained preferred
  • Must have experience within a manufacturing environment, plastic processing, assembly and test
  • Min 5 years Quality Management Experience
  • Customer liaison experience
  • Management and creation of department budgets
  • Experience of SAP preferred
  • Willing to travel within the UK and abroad
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • IT literate especially in Microsoft, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint.
